Hello world!

Alice's Conundrum

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”
“I don’t much care where –”
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”

-Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

I thought my original post would be something about how I discovered yoga, and what it had meant to me over the years. But then, as I played around with my site’s template, I grabbed the nearest photo from my desktop, which happened to be Alice’s Conundrum above, and I started thinking about my path and the journey that has led me to this point in my life. Does it matter which way I go? Why yes, indeed, it does.

For quite a few years I’ve had a diagram hanging over my desk. “Are you happy?” it asks. If the answer is yes, keep doing what you’re doing. If the answer is no, change something. I would stare at this image, thinking in theory it made sense, but wondering how on earth one changed anything so big in their life as work. Then one day I bit the bullet, and I signed up for a yoga teacher training. “Just to further my own practice,” I said to myself, tricking my conscious mind into not putting too much pressure on myself to actually do something like a life change. Then I started teaching a bit, here and there. And I realized I really did love it. I may not know how to make money from it, but there’s a satisfaction in sharing something you love, and seeing others progress into a place they thought they couldn’t go. Which is what I’m doing – choosing a new path, the unknown path.

Om Fairy is about finding your path, your divine, your inner truth. The guide – yoga, meditation, and me, if those resonate. The explorer, the navigator, the guru – that’s you.
